Alaska Property Group is a UK property company founded by Alan Hay in 1992 in the Alaska Factory in Bermondsey, London. The stunning Art Deco multi-storey factory had been designed in 1934 by Wallis Gilbert & Partners. It was used in the manufacture of products made from sealskin, imported from Alaska and Canada, before conversion into offices.
Alaska developed mainly commercial property in the UK. Alan was joined by Chris Clayton in 1996 and the company opened an additional office in Shrewsbury.
Alan retired in April 2026 and Alaska is now happily closed. This site serves as a record of a highly successful and thoughtful company which always sought to achieve architectural and social gain as well as profit. Many times all three were achieved.
More than 1,000,000 m2 of commercial space has been developed.
